ARRRGGGGHHHHHH

4 families went to the Pirate Dinner Theme Show. We borrowed some costumes from some neighbors and even our friends that met up with us didn't recognize us. The costumes were nicer than the actual ones in the show. The kids looked adorable but we didn't get any good pictures.

The funniest thing was that total strangers were coming up to Jesse and asking to take a photo with him before and after the show. They would say to him, "You were great in the show." We were all laughing our heads off. At least he has something to fall back on when times get tough.

tried 5 different ways to rotate this picture and none worked so tilt!

another good time had by all!

San Diego Zoo

We headed down to San Diego over Memorial Day weekend or night and met up with all the cousins at the Zoo. It was a nice relaxing trip and good to see everyone

Hailey and Shane were in a love bird mood, didn't last long.

Period Loser

There is no doubt that Shane is wired for Math, not English. He can't remember to capitalize the beginning of a sentence or put a period at the end. His teacher warns the kids in class, don't be a period loser. That is what we call Shane now, Period Loser. We try to make a joke out of it hoping he will remember. He is showing improvement!

Nurse Maids Elbow

A picture of Hailey waiting to get Xrays on her arm. She was playing Ninja with the boys at Shane's school and got hurt. We tried to pop her arm back in place as we suspected that it wasn't broken. Jesse tried 2 times and couldn't get it to pop back in place, so we headed to the ER. Turns out Jesse just needed to push about an inch more, but when Hailey is screaming you just don't know what to do. Now we are officially pros (3rd time for Hailey with this injury) Tough little patuti

Drivers start your engines...

...its time for the Indian Guides pinewood derby race. Well over 60 cars entered, Shane and all of his friends made it to the final 16, and Shane made it to the final 8.

Hailey also wanted to get into the action. She and Shane showing off their wheels below. We had a blast making the the cars. We stayed well after the competition ended, racing our cars down the track. For me, that was the best part.

Baseball Campout

The annual campout for baseball was once again a huge hit. Dinner, Movie, and Breakfast were all provided and most everyone from our neighborhood slept over

Early morning scene- We watched the Katos kids for 4 days while their parents went away so they too slept in our tent too. Yes, we had the biggest tent out there (not pictured)

Our corner of the field- All Rancho Vista kids

The parents look forward to this event as much as the kids do. A nice easy social event for the adults where the kids are entertained all night

The kids love the shirts that Eli picked out. Hailey finally feels like she fits in (all the boys at school wear them)

Dodger Game

My buddy Gene invited a couple of the guys to a Friday night Dodgers v. Padres game.  We decided to get out of the house a bit early to hit the new Total Wine mega-store and catch dinner on the way.  The store was having its grand opening and was hosting tastings with multiple wineries.  According to California law, they cannot give away alcohol, so they charge a hefty tasting fee of 10-cents.  We hit the jackpot, as Silver Oak was showcasing their Merlot, Alexander Valley Cab, and their Napa Cab. It was Fantastic to taste and compare them side-by-side.  After dinner downtown, we arrived at the game in the top of the 3rd inning.

We even made it on TV (thanks to Molly who snapped this at home and texted it to us).  Overall a great night.  Thanks Gene!

Disneyland

Hailey got to celebrate her birthday at Disneyland. At first we were just going to take Kyle and ditch school, but then the whole Kato family wanted to join us. So it was a Camp-Kato Disney Adventure. Here they are in their luxury ride.

"Show me how excited you are to go on Space Mountain"......

This is the reaction i get when i say, "smile"

Thunder Mountain 3X

At the end of the day on the way to the car Hailey said, "Hey, we didn't do happy birthday." We had to remind her about the giant ice cream cones we had after lunch (they all ate the whole thing)

Best buds

By mid-day Hailey would only hold Jima's had.

Grizzley Falls tube ride which is a roaring rapids ride. Hailey's hands were up on all the roller coasters, including Space Mountain. As soon as Hailey sat on the seat of ride, her hands automatically went up in the air and didn't come down until it was over. She is a thrill seeker

The New 3D Toy Story Ride-pretty awesome

Thank you Katos for coming, it made it more special for Hailey and enjoyable for us!

Papa's Bday

Love the expression on Hailey's face
Happy Birthday Papa!

Lunada Bay hike

We took a nature hike in to the Lunada Bay canyon, as close to the Grand Canyon as you get in PV. Shane caught his first frog and Hailey was excited to hold her first frog. Shane also skipped his first rock while Hailey searched for treasure on the beach.

The striking similarities between the rocks on the floor of the canyon and the rocks stuck high on the walls of the canyon were a bit unnerving.
