Tears

The kids were playing in the family room and Shane was doing some moves that could potentially hurt Hailey if he landed wrong on her. Jesse got on him and told him you are too big and strong and could easily break Hailey's leg. A few seconds go by and he does it one more time and really hurts Hailey. Jesse just went off and said, "You're lucky I didn't smack your head off" as he's hitting him with a pillow to the head. So Hailey and I went into the bathroom to paint our toe nails and she was very quiet. She said she wanted to go play with Shane in a real soft voice, but I told her he was in timeout. She looked at me and said, "I don't want Shane to lose his head, then I can't ever play with him again" and tears started to roll down her cheeks. I explained to her that would never happen. She was so concerned for her big brother Shane, it was really cute.

Hurricanes –Undefeated

Shane’s AYSO Select team was too good to be true.  1 patient coach Rex and 1 yelling coach Bo (comical too) and a bunch of kids who were great soccer players.  They went the whole season without losing a game.  These boys know how to pass a soccer ball.

Here Shane and Ben are taking a rest during an injury.  They were the only defenders, no one else could fill in their shoes

Shane scored 2 goals during the season!  Impressive, since he played defense 90% of the time

JUMP Hurricanes!  Hope we can stick together next year

Magic Mountain

Shane finally got to cash-in on his coupon from Christmas which was a day at Magic Mountain.  I told him i had one request, to go on Colossus first, it’s my favorite.  Here’s Shane going up Colossus the first time not knowing what to expect.

Loving it so much we went 3 times in a row!

It was so empty we never had to wait in line.  The only wait was because the roller coaster wasn’t there to load.  Anytime we liked the ride we rode it twice and never got back in line. There was only 1 ride that we both hated, The Green Lantern.

We only stayed at Magic Mountain for 5 hours, we were both done.  When you go on that many roller coasters back to back in a matter of minutes, your body is spent.  At the end of the day i told Shane that he could choose one last ride to go on, and his choice was…………………

It was so much fun to spend the day with just Shane, he is such a trooper and dare devil!

Mother’s Day Weekend

Mother’s Day started Friday night for me as Jesse and I went out to the happening MB Post, which did not disappoint.  Both of us walked out of there in pain, too much of a good thing!

 mom

Saturday morning, Jesse fixed his infamous French toast breakfast, loved it.  Sunday, we all played 9 holes of golf at the PV Golf Club with Papu and Papa.  The perfect thing for Mother’s day, playing sports with your mom.  I don’t want the kids to ever think one is too old to do things.  Papa put together a great dinner for all of us to enjoy and we played Hot Potato.  Never seen that version of the game, the kids were sweating!

Not the best picture of us playing golf, but it’s all we got

Winter Basketball-Thunder

Shane’s basketball team with all of his buddies, probably the last year of that.  Jesse was coach and really enjoyed it, the kids were coachable and improved a lot.  It took a few games for Shane to get into basketball mode, and then it all started to click and he was all over the court.  He hasn’t stopped playing since, practicing on our hoop at home.

A Nazi and the Moss-Covered Rock

Shane came home one day and told us about the next play his class was going to put on for the school.  He said the story was about “A Nazi who kills a bunch of jungle animals.”  WOW!  That’s bold, the school is now promoting political satire.  So we asked the question, “Are you sure it’s a Nazi?"  He always came back with “yes”.  So every day they rehearsed, he would come home and talk about a Nazi.  Thank goodness he was a little off.

Shane did a great job as one of the Monkeys.  Molly came home after the rehearsal and said how proud she was of Shane and how well he sang his part.  So the next day when I went to the performance, I was anticipating a good show from him…he did not disappoint.  Each group of animals was supposed to sing their song together.  Halfway through the song, Gene Kato texts me and says, “I didn’t know Shane had a solo!”  He didn’t, but he sang so loudly and clearly that it appeared he did.

Molly asked Shane if he liked performing and if he wanted to take drama lessons.  He said he liked performing, but had no interest in taking drama lessons.  WHEW!!!

Baseball Campout

No, we aren’t apart of the baseball league but every neighbor in Westfield is.  We joined the forces in the annual campout and always look forward to it.  It’s such a special night for everyone.  This year Jesse and I did it right.  Shane and Hailey camped out while Jesse and I went home at 11pm and i came back in the morning to get the kids.  The Coogans nicely offered their tent for our kids to sleep in since Jesse had to wake up at 6:30 for work. (The kids got up at 6am so not really an issue)  Neither one of us are crazy about camping anymore, even on plush outfield grass.  We’ll see what happens next year!

Weekend in San Diego

Shane’s soccer team didn’t have a game last weekend, so we decided to head down to San Diego.  We called Grandma to see if they were available, she said yes and tried to think of a reason to have a family get-together, luckily it was Grandpa’s birthday on Friday.  Happy Birthday Grandpa!

We met all the cousins first thing Saturday morning at the Zoo.

The minute we entered the zoo, Hailey started bugging us about going on the Sky Safari, she finally got her wish

Shane loved going on the merry-go-round and reaching out for the brass rings.  He won a free ride and was pretty excited about it
