Dove

Shane had a short writing assignment about his personality.  He symbolized himself after a Dove.....
I just love it.  He knows himself too well

PV Crushers

Hailey’s Extra team, the PV Crushers.  They have been practicing together for 2 weeks and just entered a tournament.  These girls mesh so well together on and off the field.  Hailey only knew 1 other girl but after spending 2 nights in a hotel with everyone, she has a new set of friends.  The team was undefeated, won all 4 games and Hailey scored 2 goals.  It’s so great to see her out there so into it and enjoying every moment.

Coach Mauricio is great with the girls, we lucked out with him.   As he gave out the medals he said a little something about each girl.   He said Hailey is the smartest soccer player out there!  Spot On!

1st day of school

Shane the day before school starts, getting to know the campus since he was sick for orientation

In front of his locker testing out the lock.  He put it on, just backwards, that’s all.  So we told him, just try and act “cool” when things like that happen

First day, getting on the bus to 6th grade.  When Shane got home he said, why are all the kids so nervous about Jr. High?  Either he’s ultra confident or really naive

Hailey wanted to wear her typical workout wear to school.  She’s so happy with her 3rd  teacher because it’s the one Shane had and she gives less homework!

There are certain days of the year that I hate Facebook and today is one of them.  All the back to school pictures people post.

So here is ours

Shane–o is 12

Shane’s Bday was kind of sad, he woke up with a cough and sore throat.  So he did nothing all day and  played video games.  His real party isn’t for a couple of months so it was pretty uneventful.  He did perk up when he opened up a banana card.

His appetite picked up later that evening and he chose to go to Rubios!  -he just really wanted some fish tacos

And Shane woke up the next day with a fever, poor guy.

Summertime

This was one successful lemonade stand.  I think the kids sold $34 in about 45 minutes.  Too bad we ran out because they didn’t want to stop

We spent many hours at our neighbors pool this summer.  Best neighbors ever, we can use their pool whether they are home or not.

The kids did a weekly Track and Field class.  Not sure what got into Hailey but she wanted to wear a sports bra one practice.

The water has been so warm.  Hailey was in it for 4 hours straight, no joke!  As we were packing up some of my friends didn’t even know Hailey came, she never made it to the sand.

Meet Šašić

Meet Šašić, pronounced something like "Sausage". She is named after a female striker on the German national team.

Hailey has been dreaming of getting a cat since school let out. We told her that she could get one after we got back from Mammoth in mid-June, but we thought better as we had a 2-week trip scheduled in August. So Hailey agreed to wait. She found Šašić at the San Pedro animal shelter. Šašić had been sick and in the isolation ward for the past week and was just put in the available ward the day Hailey came in.

Hailey beaming with her new friend in tow.

It didn't take long for the kids to set up a soccer stadium for her to play in.  She scored on her first possession.  A true striker!
