Lost Chicks

Last week we lost Blonde when the door to the chicken coup was left open overnight. A few days later we let the other 2 roam in the yard all day and when we came back those chicks were gone too. We have been having crime reports in the neihgborhood of hawks eating chickens so the word was out to keep the chickens undercover. We didn't.
But 24 hours later Shane and a friend were on the hunt for "who knows what" and came running into the kitchen screaming, "We found our cheapers!" They were hanging out at the neighbors backyard. I then decided to go to our other neighbor's to see if Blonde had manage to join their barn of animals. The next thing you know the owner is giving us 2 of his chickens to take home since we couldn't find Blonde. The kids were so excited and Hailey was kissing that chick from the minute it went into her arms. Our neighbor even said that if for some reason one of the chicks was a male we could return it to him and get another chick. (he has about 50) As we are walking up the easement i could see Jesse just shaking his head. He knew that Chickens don't like new chickens and he was right. We had the 2 black chickens for about 15 minutes and then we brought them back to their original home. Hailey was in tears but at least we still have 2 Chicks!

The best part of the story- Our neighbor's name is Moses and when he told me his name, of course my first reaction was to say, "Oh I had a dog named Moses", and i did. What goes around comes around.
